Christmas is coming

A long time ago, an English professor taught the class a carol. Since then, every time I think about the sentence: Christmas is coming… I remember that carol. Now, as the title suggests, Christmas is indeed coming (almost knocking at the door… I have a thing for pointing the obvious) and it’s been almost 3 months since I got in the States. Many things have happened since, mostly pleasant.

Among the major things: I joined Microsoft, I played some PC games and I have been to  a few parties. So far, so good. One of the things that amazed me a couple of weeks ago was the fact that even as I am thousands of miles away from my home country, I can still find things that bring it closer… for example: traditional Romanian sausages :) .

Speaking of sausages, I spent yesterday afternoon helping my wife prepare all sorts of foods and cookies for Christmas. Among them I mention the traditional Romanian sarmale (meat rolled in cabbage), cozonac (some sort of cake with poppy seed and nut filling), and some other varieties of cookies and food. Prior to this experience, I had no idea how long it takes to make a cozonac (it took us around 6 hours). However, all the effort that we put into making it was finally rewarded by its specific taste.

As this post draws to a close and we are in a festive time of the year, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and may this year’s Santa bring you happiness and all the things that you wished for!
