I’d like to tackle today the internet, more specifically surfing it. The web is a giant network with billions of connected users that always look for information. Now the main issue might be locating the information. I assume that many of you are familiar with google or other search engines, but in this post I would like to present an alternative. A few years ago I came across an interesting problem: Two players play the following game: there are n sticks on a table. The first player begins by removing an arbitrary number of sticks, except that he is not allowed to remove all of them in the first move. Next, every player takes one or more sticks, but not more than twice as many as the preceding player has taken with his last move. The player who removes the last stick wins. The question is which is the best move for the first player, if initially there are 1000 sticks in the game? (more…)
So this is it. For several weeks now Tudor Vlad and Tudor Salomie have asked me to create a blog and try to get in touch with the community. Apparently all their hints and comments regarding this subject finally determined me to start one.
So I guess that this is my first post. Perhaps it would be nice to say that I will mainly write about programming and technology. There are many things out there and I would like to express some of my own ideas regarding some of them.
A few facts about me: my name is Rat Cornel and I am a student in Computer Science at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. I have just completed my 3rd year of studies. I work at a company that produces software for securities firms and at a company that produces accounting software. I like algorithms and technology.
